What goes on during a child’s craft session? Naturally, there’s play involved – but there’s also the serious learning factor. After all, the best way to encourage learning in children is with do-it-yourself activities. Research shows that people remember 10% of what they read and 20% of what they hear – but absorb a whopping 90% through what they DO.

This is why craft is an excellent method that enables kids to soak up the maximum amount of information by using their vital human senses. Thanks to its nature of direct experience, contact and stimulation, craft can teach kids anything!

Imagine decorating a playhouse – an activity that most children will enjoy. They will likely be having so much fun during this process that they probably won’t realise its educational value! First, the child has to decide on the theme before he starts decorative work. This can either build up his independent thinking skills or foster a spirit of co-operation if he is working in a team. As the project progresses, the learning journey becomes more experiential, from analysing the materials to choosing the colours.

Who says learning has to be tough? Join the Holiday Fun! team as we partner with shopping malls, places of interest and schools to bring you exciting craft workshops. Email admin@pointmedia.com.sg for a schedule of our upcoming workshops. Bye-bye, boring – hello, lively learning!
