EDITOR

Job description

A magazine editor ensures that their product is full of entertaining, relevant, informative and newsworthy articles.

Key criteria for success

Editor is successful when:

  • readers and advertising partners respond positively on the quality and success of each issue of the magazine
  • actively participate in reader events and other marketing and commercial initiatives

Key responsibilities and requirements

You can and will:

  • formulate editorial guidelines
  • conceptualise editorial content for discussion with Publisher and Advertising Sales Director
  • generate editorial content through:
    • brainstorming with marketing and sales staff
    • holding regular editorial meetings to generate new ideas
  • production of editorial content:
    • managing a team of staff and freelance feature writers
    • commissioning an in-house or freelance writer to write a feature
    • sending out briefs for work to writers (with a detailed summary of what is needed, the deadline, word count and fee, etc)
    • attending photo shoots
  • quality control:
    • editing features and ensuring they are good enough to print – this may include sending work back to the writer with queries or a request for a rewrite
    • occasionally, researching and rewriting features/sections
    • contributing to art desk and production desk discussions around format and illustrations
    • proofreading all pages after the production team has set them out before going to print
    • maintaining and raising the profile of the magazine;
  • communication:
    • networking with others in the industry
    • attending seminars, conferences and trade fairs
  • timeliness - maintain editorial and production schedule to ensure deadlines are met at different stages from conceptualization to print by various parties

WRITER

Job description

Writers are involved in the creation and/or development of all types of creative writing targeting at parents and kids age 4 to 12.

Key responsibilities and requirements

You have to:

  • be skilled in writing creatively and interactively
  • enjoy developing themes and storylines
  • undertake factual research and verifying factual content
  • conduct interviews with people either face-to-face, over the telephone or by email
  • submit material for publication in the required and expected format;
  • work to tight deadlines

DESIGNER

Job description

You are to design creatively editorial articles and marketing collaterals for the magazine and events.

Key responsibilities and requirements:

You should be:

  • enthusiastic and talented
  • skilled in InDesign and Photoshop
  • able to demonstrate a good understanding of typography, colour schemes and page layouts that will interest and stimulate the reader
  • working closely with the art director, photographers and the editorial team, so good oral and written communication skills are essential
  • have relevant experience in design for magazines and advertisements
  • qualified with a Diploma or Advanced/Higher/Graduate Diploma in Art/Design/Creative Multimedia, Mass Communications, Advertising/Media or equivalent

 

EVENT / WORKSHOP COORDINATOR(S)

Job description

You are to assist Event Manager to coordinate events and workshops

Key responsibilities and requirements

  • Liaise with clients, agencies and other external vendors
  • Able to conduct workshops for children and / or their parents
  • Able to translate creative ideas for workshops
  • May be required to work on weekends, depending on projects
  • Diploma with preferably 2 years’ relevant experience
  • Fresh graduates welcomed
  • Dynamic individual who is self-motivated, results-oriented and focused
  • Team player who is pleasant with excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Creative and like hands-on with crafts
  • Preferably able to start work immediately

EVENT MANAGER

Job description

You are capable of managing and ensuring successful execution of various events and workshops, besides working in a team to develop new projects for clients.

Key responsibilities & requirements

  • Familiar with events operations and organization
  • Possess good planning and co-ordination skills and eye for details
  • Creatively develop innovative on-the-ground solutions including events and workshops
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines a MUST and be able to work under pressure
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as good command of both written and spoken English
  • Responsible, patient, hard-working and well-organised
  • Performing market analyses, tracking marketing programmes and preparing management reports
  • Candidate with Diploma or Advanced/Higher/Graduate Diploma in Art/Design/Creative Multimedia, Mass Communications, Advertising/Media or equivalent preferred
  • At least 2 year(s) of working experience in event management agency is a MUST for this position. Added experience in other marketing disciplines will be an added advantage
  • Applicants should be Singaporean citizens or hold relevant residence status.

MARKETING MANAGER / EXECUTIVE(S)

Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and develop marketing strategies for all in-house products and services
  • Plan and execute marketing campaigns and projects
  • Manage the marketing calendar and activity book
  • Monitor and review the effectiveness of all marketing promotions and activites
  • Liaise with clients, agencies and production houses for media booking, job orders, visual printing and production

Requirements

  • Diploma with minimum 2 years’ relevant experience in events or marketing and promotions
  • Dynamic individual who is self-motivated, results-oriented and focused
  • Team player who is pleasant with excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Bilingual in English and Mandarin
  • Preferably able to start work immediately
